A Vibrant Celebration of Jamaican Culture
On Friday, February 27th, 2026, Great Start Academy proudly celebrated Jamaica Day with a day filled with energy, pride, and togetherness.
From K1 through Grade 6, our students embraced the spirit of Jamaica — showcasing their creativity, confidence, and cultural pride. The campus was beautifully decorated, and students arrived dressed in black, green & gold attire, representing the richness of our Jamaican heritage.
🎭 Memorable Performances from Our Students
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the student performances. Each class brought something special to the stage, including:
Cultural presentations
Dance performances
Creative class showcases
Group performances filled with enthusiasm
The effort and preparation were evident, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
To add a little extra fun to the day, our staff surprised everyone with a short dance snippet just for enjoyment! 💃🏾🎶
It was a lighthearted and joyful moment that truly captured the family atmosphere we cherish at Great Start Academy.
🌽 Food Stalls & Cultural Treats
Jamaica Day would not be complete without delicious local offerings!
Throughout the day, there were vibrant stalls featuring:
Ground provisions
Popcorn and snacks for the children
Beautiful Edith jewelry available for purchase
The stalls added to the festive atmosphere and gave students and parents an opportunity to enjoy a mini cultural fair right on campus.
🏆 Class Rally Winners Announced
One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the announcement of the Class Rally winners.
From K1 to Grade 6, each grade had three winners:
🥇 First Prize: A Day Pass at a Hotel

The excitement was contagious as winners were announced. Smiles, cheers, and proud moments filled the air as students celebrated their achievements.
