Our Programs
-
Daycare & Pre-Kindergarten (6 Months – 2 Years)
Our Daycare and Pre-Kindergarten program is designed to provide a warm, stimulating, and supportive environment where children can begin their early learning journey. Using the framework from the Ministry of Education and enhanced by “Raising the Bar” from Canada, our curriculum encourages early brain development, communication, motor skills, and social-emotional growth through purposeful play.
Our caring staff are trained to work with children at various developmental stages and are equipped to support learners with special needs using strategies tailored to their growth. A multisensory approach, including elements of the Orton-Gillingham method, is incorporated to support early language acquisition and learning readiness.
-
Kindergarten (3 – 6 Years)
The Kindergarten program at Great Start blends the Jamaican Ministry of Education curriculum with international best practices from Canada’s “Raising the Bar” framework, offering a balanced learning experience for young learners. We focus on building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, creative expression, and problem-solving—preparing students for a seamless transition into primary-level education.
We recognize that every child learns differently, and our teachers are equipped to support a wide range of learning needs. Through the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach, students develop essential pre-reading and writing skills, particularly benefiting those with learning differences or dyslexia.
-
Preparatory School – Grades 1 to 6 (6 – 12 Years)
Our Preparatory School program follows the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education, carefully tailored to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of our students. We offer engaging instruction in core subjects such as Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies—ensuring a well-rounded education.
For Grades 4 to 6, we provide in-depth preparation for the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) with mock exams, critical thinking development, and individual academic support. We are also proud to offer a multisensory learning environment through the Orton-Gillingham Curriculum, designed to support students with learning differences, including dyslexia.
Our qualified and compassionate teaching team includes staff trained to identify and address special learning needs, ensuring that every child gets the support they deserve to succeed and thrive.
